The rhododendrons are blooming profusely in our back yard. I let the dogs out yesterday and took a slow walk that turned into a photo shoot for a little more than an hour. I had just watered the lawn (yes, I know I live in western Washington, but it's been sunny here since the end of April), and the drops added to the mix. As I shot the pink ones, I swear I was drooling from the luscious color and intensity of the blossoms. These little stars are out there, giving everything they have to display to the world, quietly blazing away. I'm glad I happened to remember my mom's words about stopping and smelling the flowers. These beauties don't have an aroma (the lilacs surely do, and I planted them for you, mom), but they tantalize visually. Check out my "Featured Work" section today, and move in close.
These were all shot with a 60mm f2,8 macro (mostly at f16) and the Nikon R-1 closeup flash system, edited in Adobe Lightroom.
